One top tip for weight loss… the hunger scale

If you haven’t heard of the hunger scale and you are looking to lose weight, it has been seen as a very effective tool to lose weight. The Hunger Scale is by its name a scale of how hungry you are at a certain time. It is really a guideline that tells you when you should and shouldn’t eat. See the hunger scale below:

10: Stuffed to the point of feeling sick (Thanksgiving full!)
9: Very uncomfortable, tired
8: Uncomfortably full
7: Feel you have eaten just a little bit too much
6: Comfortable, satisfied [stop eating]
5: Just noticing the first signs of hunger [slow down, if eating]
4: Hungry, ready to eat [Eat at this point]
3: Very hungry
2: Extremely hungry, irritable
1: Starving, can’t concentrate, dizzy

Doesn’t that make a lot of sense? I think it’s great! And, here’s why:

1) It doesn’t give you a ton of room for humming & hawing about whether/not you’re hungry & ready to eat … either you ARE or you’re NOT.

2) It defines / adds in the numbers for going PAST hungry to the shaky point (which I often do)

3) Your eating range should fall between 4 and 6 on the scale … and this can be visualized like a Stop Light: 4=Green Light –Eat! / 5=Yellow Light –slow down & pay attention / 6=Red Light –Stop Eating!

The important thing is to follow your intuition.

Jennifer Aniston and Her Mind/ Body Plan

I recently found this story about Jennifer Aniston, so I thought I would post. Please see her story below:

Its hard to believe that Jennifer Aniston ever battled the bulge, but the svelte 40 year old admits, “When I first got an agent, they gave me some advice lose weight.” For years, she’s dabbed with diets like the Zone, but eventually realised that getting in shape was mental as well as physical practice. “She used to be so intense about her routine, weighing herself and following fad diets”, says a friend. “Honestly Jen has never looked better and its all because she’s learning to find balance in her life.”

Isnt it interesting that people look at diets being the first point of call to lose weight. Many of the problems lay in a persons eating habits. It is also important to do a slight bit of exercise, this does not to be heavy exercise but just enough so can burn more that you eat throughout the day. The statement that shone out the most for me there was the statement that “She is learning to find balance in her life”. Balance is a key in life, to allow us to enjoy and appreciate more things in life. Though for weight loss, it is a balance between eating the right foods and exercising so you burn of more than you eat every day.

Hypnotherapy is a great way to help you to find the balance between mind and body. Helping you to remove your unwanted habits, enjoy exercise and reconnect with your balance in life. Please feel free to post your thought and feelings.

Thanks

How to Create the life we want… Part 1

There are a number of different ideas about being able to create the life your desire. I believe it all starts with you, finding out whom you are and what you aspire to be, whatever it maybe. I don’t know if you have seem the film “The Bucket List”, if you haven’t, I value it as a must watch film. The film starts off with 2 men that have been diagnosed with cancer, with a short time left. They then decide to write a list of all the things they have wanted to do. This then takes them on a journey of discover living life to the full, and living life with passion. How would it be if you were to create a list of all the things you wanted to do in life?

As stated earlier I believe the journey starts with you, have you ever heard the saying “If you can imagine it, you can create it. If you can dream it, you can become it“. If we can write down all the things we want to do in life or have a goal to work towards and do something towards it everyday, do you think it will be achievable? We may have a big picture of what we want to do in life and though it may seem distant, it can be achievable if we break our goals down into manageable chunks. This will then seem much more achievable.

Below are a few questions that can help start you on your journey. Now I want you to take a few minutes to answer the questions below:

1.What do you want to do?

Write down all the things that you want to do in live, whatever it is and no matter how stupid it may sound. Remember, these questions are for you.

2.What do you want to be?

Now I want you to write down what you want to be. (What motivates you in life, what do you have a passion for?)

3.What do you want to see?

What places do you want to visit, for example the must see natural wonders of the world.

4.What do you want to have?

Look at what you want to have in life. You may many a loving family a good set of close friends or a maybe it is a lifestyle that you are looking to have. When writing this down, I don’t want you to write do material things.

5.Where do you want to go?

6.With whom do you want to share this with?

Now that you have answered all of those questions, keep them with you all the time so that you can look at them. This will motivate you towards your goals and everything you aspire to be, with each and everyday brings me closer to my dreams. Remember, it is important to appreciate what you have in life at this current time as you become the person you set out to be.

The Best Motivational Video Ever

I watched this video and have found it truly inspirational. Im sure that he is not only an inspiration to myself but to all of us.

Please Post your comments

Step into 2010 with some new learnings and new years resolutions
Wouldn’t it be great to set and achieve a goal in 2010?

As we step into 2010 we look at making new changes in our lives, writing new years resolutions and creating new goals for the future. 2010 is not only a new year but also a new decade for new beginnings. So to get started, lets take stock and look back on 2009 and see what we have achieved and gone through, we could even look back on the past 10 years and see where we have come. As 2010 is the start of new beginning and a new year, lets kick start it with a running start and make 2010 the best year yet.

Take an honest look at yourself, what happened in 2009? How can we make 2010 the best year yet? And What can we appreciate in our lives now (our loved ones, our health and our peace of mind)?

New Years resolutions sometimes only last a short period of time, as we get back to “Normal life” we don’t have enough time to keep them going. I say if you can imagine a grain of sand and you pick up a grain of sand each day, soon you will have a large mound of sand. If you can do something each day towards achieving your goals soon you will find yourself achieving it, and with each day we move closer. Wouldn’t it be good if you could set a goal and it become a reality?

See below 6 top tips for goal setting:

1)Ask yourself “What do I want to create in my life this year?” Brainstorm all of your ideas, write down anything that comes to mind no matter how silly they may seem.

2)Make a note of all your new years resolutions and take a look at all your goals and ask yourself “Which one is the most important to me?” Now compare your goals with a few more on your list, asking yourself the same question.

3)Now ask yourself, “Why do I want this?” When you have enough reasons why you want to do something, you will do anything you can to achieve it.

4)Make sure its your goal that is being set and not what someone else wants as this will not inspire you.

5)Write down your chosen goals and read them daily, I would say no more than 5 at one time. Its a good year to make a copy of them to carry with you.

6)Visualising your goal will make it that much more achievable. So make sure you visualise yourself achieving this goal daily.

You can now download my free audio visualisation mp3 for goal setting to achieve your goals for the future.

P.S. We all have it within us to achieve great things.

The Legend Jim Rohn

I am writing this post in memory of Jim Rohn, who was one of the most successful “Business Philosopher’s” from over 40 years of seminars he had become one of the most inspirational speakers of all time. I have only recently been touched by the work of Jim Rohn, though I was moved instantly.

You may already know some of the work of jim rohn, if you haven’t i will recommend some of my personal favourites here. “12 Pillars of Success”, “The Day that turns your life around” and “Designing your life rather than making a living” I thoroughly recommend listening.

Discover how to lose weight and keep it off…

Wouldn’t it be good if you could lose weight easily and effortlessly

Weight loss always seems like a constant battle were you are trying many different ways to lose weight. You may find yourself doing the same things over and over, such as going to the gym or trying out a new fad diet because someone has found this new and amazing formula. Though I can imagine that many of you lose a certain amount of weight on a diet you always see yourself putting the weight back on. Once this happens we go back to the same routine of doing things and nothing changes in our life.

Traci Mann, a UCLA associate professor of psychology said “You can initially lose 5 to 10 percent of your weight on any number of diets, but then the weight comes back”.

If this were to be the case then you may come to realise that the answer lies not in the diet but in the mind. As you read through this article further you will discover new and exciting ways you can lose weight now. If the answer does not lie in the diet then where does it lie?

Deanne Jade, Principal of the National Centre for Eating Disorders believes that the answer lies in the mind and states that “Most diets involve a significant change in a person’s normal eating habits over an extended period of time. But habits die hard; we cling to them because they fit in with our lifestyle and the people around us.”

Just now you can decide to be determined to lose weight by looking at ways we can change our habitual influences, and once we change are habits they will become second nature to us. We need to look at different ways we can approach food by creating a compelling alternative to change. Weight loss is a journey to become the ideal you, this journey never ends, but starts with you.

  • Learning how to take care of yourself
  • Changing your behaviours into positive habits
  • become a healthy eater
  • loving exercise
  • enjoying every step of your weight loss path.

There are some general weight loss tips below that you can use for yourself, please see below:

1.Eat when you are hungry
2.Eat what you want
3.Eat Consciously – Enjoy Every mouthful
4.When you think you are full stop eating!

How Limiting Beliefs can affect our outcomes!

I stumbled upon this video and I thought it was a great representation of how our beliefs can really affect our results. This also shows that our mental attitude towards sports or towards everything in our lives can either be detrimental or help us to achieve outstanding results.

There are many situations in life where we can say to ourselves that we are not good enough, but if we approach a situation with optimism and a powerful compelling belief we may surprise ourselves. Focus determines our results and beliefs will affect the actions we take and our behaviours. We are not perfect and all we can do is focus on Constant And Never Ending Improvement. Be inspired.
